Yesterday evening, after I'd posted the blog, I was sitting at my kitchen table when I saw something sliding across the wall. Apparently a lizard had taken the liberty of letting himself in. Now, I know lizards are a fact of life in many places, and I'm cool with that, but that doesn't necessarily mean I want to give him free reign of my tiny apartment if there's a chance I can catch him. Besides, I think if I was a lizard, I would prefer being outside. ...

Well, as of noon-ish today I have officially been here for one week. It seems both longer than that in some ways, and shorter in others. Longer because so many things have happened, and it's hard to imagine that I've seen the plumber as much as I have in the span of seven days only; and shorter because I haven't really had time to think about the passing days—just keeping my head afloat has occupied most of my attention at this point! ...

I slept in a little bit this morning, then got ready and headed down to La Patisserie for a coffee and a cheeky almond croissant. I brought my book with me and stayed a good two hours, reading on the patio. It's actually not the most comfortable seating situation for reading, but it's still quite lovely. ...

Today at work we opted to go out for lunch instead of having it there. My supervisor drove herself, Aliana, and I to a place called "Great Burger." They sell burgers. Were they great burgers? I mean, at the time it was. I'm always starving by the time lunch rolls around. I'm sure I'll be going back to Great Burger often, since it's right around the corner from work and from my house. ...

I've only got time for a relatively short one tonight. There's significantly less time in the day now that I'm spending 9 hours of it at work!

Speaking of which, I started my internship at the Foundation for Human Rights Initiative today. I can't say it was the most exciting day I've ever had...we spent most of the time reading through a few reports and things that they've published over the past few years. ...
